The Kappa Omicron Chapter was formed during 1952. At that time, UMass was a rural campus that was yet to see the developments that would follow during the 60s, 70s and 80s. The following photograph shows the UMass campus in 1954.

Campus Pond is prominent in the upper right portion of this photograph. The expanse of fields surrounding Campus Pond have yet to be improved with the Student Union (1954), Student Center (1970), Du Bois Library (1975), and Fine Arts Center (197?)
