Service Fall 1994

Jessie's House: KO brothers helped clean up a local homeless shelter in Northampton, both indoors and out.

The Enchanted Forest: In October, the Hitchcock Center, a nature center in Amherst held tours through the woods at night for local children.  Several KO brothers and pledges went along to help out and give tours.

Soup kitchen: Every other Sunday morning, two or three KO brothers helped organize and restock the shelves of a soup kitchen in Northampton.

National Service Day: This year's focus was on eating disorders and chemical addictions. KO held a workshop on eating disorders, as well as healthy eating, media images of women, and self esteem for local Girl Scouts.

Channel 57: KO brothers and pledges manned the phones during a local PBS station's travel auction.

Chopping wood: At the chapter's cabin weekend, Saturday morning's service project was chopping wood.

Ride Board: After many semesters of effort, KO finally was able to go ahead and re-do the ride board in the Student Union. After various mishaps and over the course of several weeks, it was finished.

Babysitting: A few times this semester KO brothers and pledges volunteered their Friday nights to babysit children at local elementary school, Mark's Meadows.

Holiday party: The pledge service project was helping out at a holiday party for children of low income families. Held at a church in North Amherst, it brought out the holiday spirit in everyone.
