On a more serious note, the one thing that keeps SPO going is the addition of new members. Each new member is initiated both as a pledge and as a brother. Both occasions are of a very solemn nature and mean a great deal to those who put on the APO pledge or service pin for the first time. Also there is the board of review in the middle of the pledge period, something which every pledge must attend.
